Love the joke of Martyn Ware, when Glenn says "We're going to live for a very long time !!!", and Ware says "No, Phil Oakey's leave for a very long time".

Ah ah !

Sorry to correct you, but what was actually said was this

Gregory: "We're going to live for a very long time and I think it goes on forever"
Ware: "It feels like it goes on forever"

No mention of Phil at all, and of course it's a reference to that fact that on the vinyl album the track was recorded up to and onto the runoff groove; meaning the run time of this track and the album is infinite, looping the line "For a very long time".

Glenn did say after his acoustic of Geisha Boys "Don't let Phil Oakey know I played guitar, he'll kick me out of the electronics club"

Re: Heaven 17 - Penthouse & Pavement tour 2010

Maybe you're right, but I'm pretty sure that I have heard that from Ware.

But he didn't say it very loudly, he say that to Glenn, not to the audience.

...so maybe you haven't heard it. But maybe you're right too, I remember the joke of Oakey after the acoustic version, and I remember the joke for the run time of WE'RE GOING TO LIVE...

I have the LP of PENTHOUSE & PAVEMENT, I know that there are "no end" for that song wink

Oh, and talking about joke, it was funny when Glenn made a false note with the guitar and throw away his mediator saying "I don't need that !" !

Very funny band, it's pretty rare !

Re: Heaven 17 - Penthouse & Pavement tour 2010

There's a tribute night for long-time Sheffield radio DJ Dave Kilner who died last year, at Sheffield City Hall on Fri 30th April.  Acts include Heaven 17, Joe & Sav from Def Leppard (AAARRGGGGHHHH!!!), John Parr, John Culshaw and Tony Christie so far, but the organiser are talking to more Sheffield stars in the hope of increasing the line up.

I've just got a 3rd row ticket (shoot me if you like, but i'm really going to see the Leppards mainly ! wink )  Heres a link to the City Hall website incase anyone is interested, but i was offered crap seats on there so called the box office on the off-chance and got offered 3rd row big_smile

Really? Pour Some Sugar On Me etc? Really? I always see them as a comedy band. I could never take them seriously. I always thought they were taking the mickey. Thank God you left the dark side and saw the light with Duran. lol

I was into Duran at 10, got into Leps at 15.  Go figure tongue  If you thought that they were comedy, you may be shocked if you found out just how HUGE they were (and still are...) worldwide !

Same for Depeche Mode.

I always thought they were a rubbish piss take of a serious US rock band.  They became popular/mainstream at about the time when Bon Jovi, Whitesnake were taking off in UK (?) and I couldn't ever take any of those bands serious at the time.  I blame Jonathon King and his rubbish Entertainment USA for all that trash.  Is he still in prison?

Quite right Pauline, DL are massive; stadium / arena sell outs, >50 million album sales worldwide hysteria itself 20 million, compared to the other hysteria we know and love, oh man!
Its only on this forum you can't get away with calling them Sheffield's finest

I really couldn't (and that's saying something since I have seen Celine Dion!)  I'm sure they are great live but I just know it's not for me.

Great to see but why is it buried away on the edge of the daily schedules.  Surely it's worthy of a more 'prime time BBC2' slot!! mad

Oh excellent - will need to look out for myself on that :p

Timing doesn't bother me (I timeshift 95% of my TV these days) but it's a pity this isn't on BBC HD.
