Sounds like they could be possibly be going down the same road as Duran Duran which could be good news!

Is this a CD/DVD set?  If so bring it on I'd certainly consider nabbing a copy!

I welcome this as my three disc set, something I previously mentioned elsewhere I found in Oxfam bookshop, has developed a seemingly terminal fault which can't be cured by cleaning the discs.

Finally my prayers have been answered, that for me is the best news in your entire posting Pauline, thanks very much! big_smile

Yeah so I agree with Kevin, disappointed by no THL announcement but I'm sure it won't be too far away.

Re: Remember The Eighties Newsletter

Further to the 22-01-2010 good news about extended edition Spandau Ballet album releases that you said I'm delighted to see 'Gently' appearing on the "Diamond" track.  I really love that song and think it is the best B side they ever made.

Back when it was released I had it on 7" picture disc vinyl, the other side being the Trevor Horn produced Instinction.  However the only copy I have at the moment is an audio tape copy of it and part of the way through I jogged the record turntable causing it the needle to jump and apparently I didn't notice the error.

Re: Remember The Eighties Newsletter

I believe the special Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran album CD's were all due to come out on 15th March 2010 but I've just checked on the HMV site (which coincidentally you'll find the best deals) and according to them the release dates have changed.

08/03/2010 - Spandau Ballet - Diamond (£10.99)
08/03/2010 - Spandau Ballet - Journeys To Glory (£10.99)

29/03/2010 - Duran Duran - Duran Duran (£12.99)
29/03/2010 - Duran Duran - Seven and the Ragged Tiger (£12.99)

Sounds like a better idea spacing them at either side of the month.  Hope the info is of help to anyone whose interested in nabbing these highly collectable 'limited edition' titles!

Luckily I was able, using the internet to do price comparisons of all the CDs I want to pre-order before the date that they are released to the public. Sadly I am not a music journalist who writes reviews for music magazines like Q or The Word who often get promotional copies in advance which they do not pay for.

Using this method I was able to pre-order the re-released of the debut album from London based New Romantics Spandau Ballet for only £6.98 which I'm sure anyone would agree is £4.01 cheaper than HMV have it. I have not yet decided what to do with the money I have saved from this "lucky deal" but I am sure I will be able to put it to good use - I am open to suggestions.

Re: Remember The Eighties Newsletter

Having weighed up the evidence presented in this thread regarding a number of potential opportunities to purchase one or more of these forthcoming special edition 're-releases', I must say I would have to agree that it would appear that perhaps a great deal has indeed been discovered by our friend, DJ Ian Aitch. It would seem that congratulations are in order in relation to the excellent and most welcome savings from which you have found you were able to benefit when diligently researching and subsequently placing an 'online' order for these musical treasures by the Kemp brothers and of course their colleagues, who we must remember also made significant contributions to the legacy of Spandau Ballet.  If I might be so bold, I would like to suggest and even recommend that you use the savings of £4.01 that you have been able to secure in your recent transaction by facilitating a celebration of this happy occasion in which the purchase and subsequent drinking and enjoying of a pint of beer (or, if you prefer, another type of beverage), perhaps in a bar or possibly a nightclub or restaurant, occurs.

Well done on getting an additional saving on the Spandau Ballet CDs DJ Ian Aitch!

I only mentioned HMV because of the websites I have ordered from before and have recieved prompt reliable service (which include CDWOW, play.com and Amazon) they have come out the cheapest.

I am vaguely aware that there are price comparison services for CD's on the internet but I guess I just stuck with sites I know from past experience.

Whilst looking around the online world last night my joy was unlimited when I discovered internet based retailer Amazon, initially known merely as a vendor of books but now a seller of books, compact discs, digital versatile discs, toys, games, clothing, downloads, jigsaws and more (check them out sometime!) had reduced their price on Duran Duran's 3rd long-playing compact disc set Seven And The Ragged Tiger to an amazing £8.95!

With all this money I am saving from Amazon's "misprices" I think I might be able to go out this weekend and give myself some sort of treat.
